Launched April 26, 1944, and commissioned on June 30 1944. Spikefish was the first submarine to have hydraulically operated periscopes, to be outfitted with a radar periscope (that came after the war) and on March 18, 1960, Spikefish became the first submarine to make 10,000 dives.
